Patriots Place Franchise Tag Cassel

This week the New England Patriots placed the franchise tag on their back-up quaterback savior, Matt Cassel. Franchise tagging essentially means that other teams trying to sign him would have to match the Patriot's one-year contract worth $14.65 million making it harder for him to leave the team. After not starting a football game since his senior year in high school, Cassel took over for superstar Tom Brady when he went down in week 1 and led the team to an 11-5 record. You can be assured that there a plenty of teams (Chiefs, Lions, etc) that would love to add him as their starter, unfortunately the Patriot's just upped his price tag, greatly.
